checkbox color

is there a way to specify the inner color of a checkbox?

i was taught that were was no way to do so.....the only color you can change for the checkbox would be the little space surrounding the checkbox

I use style sheets to change the colours of text boxes, but the same style if applied to a tick box would not work:mad:
