I'm wanting to get into logo design, and would like to know how I'm fairing so far...

This is for a *fictional* game company, just something I was messing with...

Thanks

you've explored the gradient filter.
jot your designs down on paper first, develop the idea based on what the company is about, check the competition.
Your colours are a bit drab, they should be punchy, bright, saturated colours and you should test what colours work well together, try limiting to 3 cols. Your design should never over-rule the message - therefore your text is the most important thing and the design needs to be built around your text.
Your design as a variety of shapes for no apparent reason with the exception of the star. Don't over complicate unless it has relevance. Think how it will look in large sizes and small. Explore, develop and redevelop, there's always far more to a logo than the end result.

I'm in agreement with Poxicator.

I feel like it's not bad, but it's not really good either. One thing I noticed is that I feel like there is too much activity, too much warping and too many shapes(circles, rectangle, star...).

It's not bad. The size makes it so the eye is forced to swallow much imput. I know that this isn't intended to be the finished size, -just saying.
Looks like a good logo for on the heel of an athletic shoes, the back of a pair of faded jeans or those 'grunge T-shirts' you can get at Old Navy. -You know, -the ones that imitate very old 'classic' branded clothing lines.

Better than anything that I can do. I'd give you and 8 out of a possible 10. (nice) :)
