Yet another forum infested with beginners trying to make money because someone told them web development is easy. I was a member for a forum similar to this once before. I got banned because I kept going off on the people asking the same beginner questions over and over again.

Anyone know of a place I can get more advanced questions answered? Perhaps a place when at least 50% of the active members have read some of the w3c's documents?

Given our neophyte status, and your unparalleled brilliance, how could we possibly know of such a place?

Lets not go in that direction. Act mature please, I would like to see an honest answer.

Given the way you phrased your question, replete with attitude, and completely unmerited, I feel the response was appropriate. You post 1 question on a sunday morning, got one response, and made a blanket assumption about the forum, based on that. You were rude and insulting, and yet my response was immature?

But, Ok, fine. There are definitely members here capable of answering any question you would be likely to come up with, as well as those you probably couldn't come up with. However with the attitude you've displayed to this point, I cannot guarantee that any of them will answer.

I do not doubt there are people here who know enough to help others. I speak better in metafore so think of it like this...

There is a sea people trying to reach the sky at any cost. Its right in front of them so they think it is a goal that will be easy enough to achieve. Therefor they climb on top of anyone foolish enough to help them up.
Then the people who refuse to step on someone to get ahead leave the crowd and climb the tallest and steepest mountain to reach the sky.
I'm already rather far up the mountain, I just need to know which path is more rewarding because from here I cant see much of a difference between the two. I then look around to find no one around me to help me make the choice.

So jumping to a near by mountain with more people on it would be an improvement. I might loose some ground in the process but its better then finding a dead end in the long run.

Unfortunately the first result on google for "web developer forum" points you to a hill of people trying to climb on each other. I should of known better.

Of course, we are all only human. Their might be rock under the pile of bodies that anyone who walks by would not see.

Usually people who suffer from those can at least spell. Metafore? That one gave me whiplash.

To be fair, you've only asked one question, and got two perfectly informative answers.
We don't need lots of experienced members really, we only need one mindblowingly awesome one, and that's me :p

"Metafore..." If metadata is data about data, is metafore a golf warning about a gold warning?

I often say "Don't ever take anything I say literally". Reading between the lines and not the lines them selfs is the best way to understand me.

I have no argument with the one question I did ask. I decided to look around shortly before originally starting this thread. The number of beginner questions posted over that short time span is what I based my judgment on.

Hi,

... The number of beginner questions posted over that short time span is what I based my judgment on.

Personally, I am more concerned with the quality of the answers than the questions.

Anyone know of a place I can get more advanced questions answered?

Hmmmm? How about asking the questions here first? Then you can make a judgement based on the quality, or accuracy, of the answers you receive.

If, after that, you are still unhappy with the answers and you want another development forum ... I first came across WebDeveloper.com by using Google.

Nigel

Perhaps he'd prefer we turn away novices because their questions don't "measure up". I may be mistaken, but weren't we ALL newbies, once?

There's a handful of people here from whom I'd weigh advice greater than 99% of all other resources. That's not to say they have the time to provide their good advice, though. If it's a question that could easily be answered simply by searching the forums, then I'm also much more reluctant to spend time answering it. I'm very pressed for time these days, so I tend to do more moderating than posting when I'm here. Just because I don't post an answer doesn't make me stupid. I would think people much less inclined to help such a repulsively arrogant egotist anyway; I know I am.

Oh and if you're going to try to sound intelligent by attempting to write in such a formal and high-horsed way, you could do worse than to not make so many elementary literary mistakes. &sigh;
