I have a large 275 MB file I want to reduce in size and stream it on my website. Any of the embedding I have tried so far only displays the video with no controls or a pause/stop button, and only in IE. I found a horrible video editing program, after 'compression' and changing the format to .avi the file was 400MB!
Does anyone know how to effectively reduce file size/embed files with decent controls in both Firefox and IE?

If you're using the video in Flash, using .mov as the original file format and then converting to .flv (Flash video format) usually produces a usable file size. You could try different export settings as well. It's really hit and miss with web video in different circumstances.

I think you need converter. Personally I use Video to Flash converter PRO by geovid. I know there is Generate HTML function and for controls your video on display you can try video settings there only need check the button Embed flash player.

Ok, I've gone ahead and converted the file to a .FLV, and now it's only 16MB, the quality might not be good enough but I can change that later if I get past my current problem.
I found a flvplayer that works fine locally but when I upload everything it will not play my flv. I think the problem lies in my host server not recognizing the .flv format, when I go to the location of the flv file on my site I get a 404 error, despite it being there. This has happened before with .dqb files, I needed to zip them before I could make links to them. I can't do that with this flvplayer, obviously.
Does anyone know if this is a problem my webhost can fix or is this all on me? Any ideas would be appreciated..

Probably you need to ask about your problem with your flvplayer in technical support it player.
