Whoa - It looks like it was put together by a fifth grader. I guess it would be good as a personal site, but it doesn't have much of a presence as a legitimate web portal.

- too many ads
- too many pop-ups
- too many flashing objects
- too much javascript
- frames!!!! (http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php)

Instead of filling the space with ads or flashy junk, concentrate on your content. People won't come back to see an animated .gif; they'll come back to find something they're interested in.

No offense (I know everyone has to start somewhere) but I definitely agree with everything KDLA said.
I wanted to make one additional point. I find it very odd that you have a "Get Firefox" ad on your site yet it does not work in Firefox. You will want to test your site in multiple browsers.
