Does anybody have a link to the laws regarding information on pulling a persons credit (I work for a car company) I know that it is now illegal to take credit information over the phone, but what rules are associated with electronicly collecting the information. Right now I link to a credit application with another company but there are more questions I'd like to ask to make life for our finance dept. easier. So if anybody has dealt with this or knows of a link that would be awesome.

FWIW - In the U.S. check out the FTC website, but it's geared more toward consumers as opposed to business/commercial interest. Generally you need "authorization" to pull a credit report, but that can come in many (vague) forms. Online for example, our sites have a disclaimer and a checkbox that says "by continuing you authorize us to check your credit.." etc. That they must click before filling out an application. There's the FACT ACT that you want to investigate as well.

A few links on companies can be found here (http://www.netbusinesstalk.com/business-legal-issues/3089-obtain-credit-report.html). Those companies might be able to help you out some.

Why not ask them what they do?
