I could use a good shove in the right direction here...
I know what I want to do and I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I'm having trouble finding example code or resources to teach me. I expect to hear that I'm either barking up the wrong tree and I need to be asking JavaScript folks or that I'm smoking crack and it cant be done.

I'd show you my page, but frankly it's still in the very basic prelim stage.

Ideal solution:
would allow me to use a hotspot on an image in a table cell on the left which, on a hover/roll over, would then unhide a different image in a table cell on the right.

Basically, imagine a map of the world on the left of your screen where when hovering/rolling over one country would unhide an image of that country on the right.

I *could* cut up the image on the left into sections to avoid using hotspots if I needed to, I'm just trying to be a little lazy.

Anyone with brilliant insight and way more experience than me that can point me to the right place to learn or who can show me what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance!

There is even a better one, -somewhere out there, -that does this 'magnifying glass' thing that is 'clean' and 'smooth'. I had thought it was non-other than the work of CSSPLAY. Maybe it even is... I couldn't find it. I almost thought that it was a JAVA effect, which rivals FLASH for it's 'smoothness' of animation.
I came across it while using "StumbleUpon" on Firefox and did I bookmark the site? -Doubtful.
But if I come across it again I will bring it to your attention. :)
