Deleting Files from Website

Hi guys,

New to the forum and just after a bit of advice. It has been a few years since I was doing web work for a living but recently I have been getting back into it again and just having a slight problem.

I have been palying about with some PHP scripts on my site but I now need to delete all the files but I can't seem to get rid of them all. Dreamweaver obviously won't let me but I'm using Smart FTP too and it won't let me delete the files because of the permissions, but also won't allow me to change the permissions on them either.

Bow these files are really getting in my way and messing up the PHP I'm trying to use - how can I just delete them regardless of the permissions on them?

Any help is much appreciated.

If you don't have permission on the server then you can't. End of story.

If you can't alter the permissions then as far as the host is concerned you don't own the files. You'll have to discuss this problem with your hosting service.

It's really annoying simply because I'm the one putting the files there but yet I'm not allowed to remove them if I want! I will contact my hosting service and see what can be done.
