Hey Folks,
I apologize if this is not the correct area for me to post this question, so please feel free to move it if need be.
A friend of mine has a Dell laptop that he uses to surf the net and check his e-mail. He doesn't have a clue how to do anything else other than that. Anytime he opens an e-mail message with a link inside, and he tries to click on the link, he will get an illegal operations error. He'll close the error message, click the link again, and the same message will appear. He will do this repeatedly four to five times before IE 7 will actually properly open and take him to the URL. Let’s say he's not trying to access a URL through e-mail, and he simply double clicks on his IE 7 icon on his desktop, it will open and run properly but when he's finished and goes to exit the IE 7, he will get the error message before it actually closes.
I got on his laptop and paid a visit to Windows Update -- but he had all the current updates. I apologize for not knowing all of his laptop specs, but I do know he is running either XP home or XP Pro.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I've racked my brain for the past few weeks now and still can't come up with a solution.
Thank you,
Alex
