eeeek! over 50 views and no responses!
Quite simple to do this, you need to use the paths tool and I'll assume you have PS and know where to find the paths tool.
Click on the bottom of the curve and drag out to the right, click at the top of the curve and drag out to the right. You now have your curve (see attached) and merely need to complete the shape to split the graphic in half. Then reveal each side with masks using the shape you've created.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer but maybe I'm totally clueless but I couldn't do it. When I use the patht ool (the little pen right??) it just makes a straight line and when I try to pull at it it just makes what looks like a little knot??
Yesterday I did it the desperate easy way and just made a giant "s" and stretched it out but I want to learn to do it the proper way.

Its worthwhile finding a tutorial on paths and figuring how to use them because they're the foundation of vector images and something we'll all be dealing with a lot more in future web development.
Select the path tool (pen) click and drag (don't let go til you've finished dragging) - this will create your first anchor point. Now click and drag again to create your second anchor point and the two points will join to create the S shape. You can edit this curve by selecting either of the anchor points and adjusting the direction of your original drag.
Clicking without dragging will create straight edges.
