i must have tried a douzen of them and i cant get anything to work. i got hello world working, so i know that my cgi and my perl path are right

text, image, whatever as long as its a counter.....is there something i can copy and paste and have it be simple and work

please :D

counters are very easy to set up...what is it that is going wrong...?

i was wondering if you guys had an easy one to recommend, that you know works and is easy to install.

i will try to install a few more tonigh and maybe show you guys my falior (sp)

Try the one I use just enter !!counter!! in your code

It goes in the html code. Make sure you put the counter.cgi in your cgi-bin directory. Experiment with it, place it right after <body> and you should see a number 1 with a black background on your page.

wait...if you put !!counter!! in html, it looks like !!counter!!
do i have to put it in a tag? i must.

cause i tried, i put the script in my bin, and put that on my html and sure enough, all i saw was !!counter!!

This is an offsite counter but it appears to work well. I wanted a free one, one that is invisible and one that gives me the referring site info. This does -- http://www.nextgenstats.com

Just copy some HTML into your page and that's it.

i just recently found out that the reason i couldnt get a counter to work is cause my bin is kinda messed up all together.

im trying to get help from my server ppl but they are so useless

just thought i would let everyone know i got a counter working but the counter itself wasnt my problem.

after alot of troubleshooting i figured out that my problem was with permissions.

it seems that i cant set permissions with my ftp (ws ftp) i HAVE to do it with telnet.
