Hi,

Usually a video on the web has to load completely before you can move forward with the controls. In some occasions however it is possible to move forward on the timeline without the movie being loaded completely and it starts the buffering at the new position. How is this done?

Thanks,
Raoul

It depends on the video player and the video format being used.

Yes, thanks, I mean the Windows Media Player here. And about the file format, I quess that is where the answer is? Someone can shine a light on this?

Thanks,
Raoul

I don't know about the file formats but its to do with whether it is continuous live streaming video or whether it is a single clip.

continuous live streaming video - can't move forward, rewind etc.
single clip - can move forward, rewind etc.

Thanks again, yes I understand that it is not possible to move forward in a live stream, that would be quite advanced stuff! ;)

So, yes I am taling here about a video file that's on the server. Is this done by using a specific file format?
