Hey guys hows everything going, well I'm new here and trying to gather a little info on web development. I am a sophomore college student and I am taking classes to learn web design, but I will not be able to take some of the upper-level classes until next year, so I am trying to learn it by myself. I bought a domain name so I could play around with it. What I would like to know is what is the best (I know its hard to say which is "best") program to learn and easiest for a beginner. Also any other websites or ideas for help would be great, thanks guys and I hope to be able to contribute to this forum!

I would suggest trying NoteTab (http://notetab.com/). You can get the lite version for free to try it out. It's good for learning to write code w/o WYSIWYG, as you really learn the code. It also has "clips" that help to make things very easy.

Simpler editors are easier to learn but I think you'd benefit from the additional help you'll get out of HTML-kit (http://htmlkit.com).

It would be pretty good if you understood at least the basics of HTML and CSS before trying to learn a web developer program.

NVU is a free WYSIWYG editor. Microsoft also discontinued Frontpage and created a new product called Expression Web that creates compliant HTML code.
