Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've been doing web design for about 5 years, just for friends, family, some businesses and non-profit groups, but haven't committed to it or kept up with learning.

Now I'm looking into a reseller account, just for my own sites to save $ each month, and to host some charitable non-profit organizations I'm involved with. I'd like to go towards combining my designing and web hosting into a business, but I have a lot to learn yet. Can anyone recommend some good, easy-reading books, that cover the basics of most web developer related info? The basics of CGI, javascripts, perl, css...all that good stuff. Nothing that will give me gray hair, just a good running start with the basics and beyond.

Also, about running a web developer business, if anything like that exists...I don't need any running a business general books, I've done that for years, but in the realm of web development, I've got a lot to learn!

So glad to have found this forum and looking forward to getting to know you all.

Thanks! :D

Just get the Dreamweaver Bible. It focuses on allowing you to use Dreamweaver but it will hit all the major things you mentioned (a working knowledge, nothing extremely advanced). Besides, if you can understand everything in it, you'll be able to build most any site you want to just by manipulating already made resources out on the web. There is no point in writing your own scripts from scrap if someone else has written for the umpteenth time.
