Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I amde a rectangle shape in Iluustrator and then I applied the wave effect to it so it looks like a wave.

Well I wanted to use this as a clipping mask for an image but for some reason it won't take the shape. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!!

To create a clipping mask you need 2 shapes, in your case that should be the wave and the image. The image needs to be at the bottom and the wave shape needs to be created as a shape rather than using a filter (its possible to use filters but it can complicate the issue). If you've used a filter or effect then expand your shape.
Select both items and then use clipping mask - everything inside the wave should appear and everything outside should be hidden.
If you're still having problems its possibly because of the shape, illustrator can be temperamental so try ungrouping, pasting in a seperate document and repasting into your document but definitely make sure its on top of the image!
hope this helps
