I am using a HTML template for a website I'm working with, but the codes in the template makes pop up ads come up when the page is loaded. I know I have used HTML or java codes before to stop those pop ups from happening.. maybe something like an iFrame? I honestly forget.. it's been YEARS.
If anyone can help.. please do! THANKS!

The pop-up ads could be part of the template usage agreement. I'd check into this before deleting any code. ;)

Ok, thanks. Either way, is there any way of stopping the popups?
Well, as you said, there probably is a line of coding in the template calling a function, something linking to some javascript on another website. But, since this code may be part of the template license agreement, I suggest you check into it.

Oh, ok gotcha.. ok well let's say I'm using geocities or angelfire type thing for my hosting and it has pop ups... is there a code to stop that? If so, what is it? Or better yet.. just WHAT IS THE CODE CALLED or known as?

The short answer is "no".
The longer answer is: depending on how they are generating the pop-ups it may be possible to use javascript to disable them, however, doing so will most assuredly violate your hosting agreement/ToS, and will likely cause the host to delete your entire website quickly and with no warning.
If you really want to get rid of the ads, I'd suggest ponying up a few bucks each month to get a real hosting plan.

Let's play a little game called "Let's not re-invent the hammer"... If (hypothetically, let's say~) geocities or yahoo pages is putting pop-overs on your free hosted page... instead of violating their Terms Of Useage or getting someone on this Forum to violate the agreements probably in place here to prevent usurping services of other providers, -just get a different free hosting that has add-free FREE site hosting, -like www.sitesled.com or www.awardspace.com. They cannot prevent that. These two have 'for pay' hosting too, of course, -but they also boast FREE, advertisement-free hosting too... the latter one offers 200MB of space, supports *php and *MySql I beleive, let's you conduct commerce (some sites forbid you to 'sell' anything on free-hosting... as this violates some nebulous concept of lost reveneue for them, removing some $ from their coiffures somehow because you are selling homemade potholders or hand-painted coffee mugs, or whatever...)
