My question is what are some good resources for learning javascript? Things such as books? cd's? and what are some good free online resources?

For a book, I'd recommend "JavaScript, The Definitive Guide" by David Flanagan.

As for online references, look at the JavaScript documentation: http://devedge.netscape.com/library/manuals/2000/javascript/1.3/guide/
and perhaps http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp though I've never read any of those tutorials, so I can't be sure...
