It's called a CAPTCHA ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha ) but don't use one. They're inaccessible to the blind and it turns out that computers do a fine job of breaking them. ( http://www.w3.org/TR/turingtest/ )

what i did was copy some of the code from youtube's "become a member" page and add their domain name where ever they had a source that needed it:

<a href="#" onclick="document.verificationImg.src='http://www.youtube.com//cimg?c=UsFqarMcqIe8srgCq6l-IVNVmUz9K_OePV2tPcPnZJ5rRJ-o0udJzKj4EfKqaEgr&'+Math.random();return false"><img src="http://www.youtube.com//cimg?c=UsFqarMcqIe8srgCq6l-IVNVmUz9K_OePV2tPcPnZJ5rRJ-o0udJzKj4EfKqaEgr&amp;0.48053659637660207" name="verificationImg" width="115" height="46" border="0" align="texttop" /></a>
