If I want to sell something from my own site what must I do?

That's an awefully wide open question. You need to comply with any laws applicable in your country, and pay relevant taxes on the income.

If you want to host an online shop, you will need a good host, a shopping cart script (see sites like http://www.hotscripts.com), and you will need a PayPal merchant account to process payment. Or, if you would like to process payment directly from your shopping cart, you will need a host which supports SSL for secure payments, an SSL certificate, and access to a payment gateway service.
