I cant for the life of me remember the name of the 'thingy' that sits in a long name description on a date, the st,nd,rd,th thingy, I thought it wan an ordinal but thats a math 'thingy' on wikkipedia' & seems to be the subject of allotof dispute and debate.

Aren't they called ordinal suffixes?

It IS an ordinal suffix.

1st: First
2nd: Second
3rd: Third
4th: Fourth
...
11th: Eleventh
12th: Twelfth
13th: Thirteenth
...
20th: Twentieth
...
101st: One-hundred and first

etc.
