Hey! I want to make a big website full of MIDI's that visitors can listen to. The problem is, I want to get a good 100 to 200 MIDI's and I want to be able to make a seach box (using PHP or anything else you can recommend) :) . I want to make a seach box somehow where people don't have to go clicking through a bunch of pages to find their MIDI. But I am really not that good with PHP. I only know the basics. If you can refer me to some cut-and-paste script or something I would really appreciate it. If not I will try my best to understand you. :D You get the idea. Any suggestions?
You might be able to find something at http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Searching/Searching_Your_Web_Site/ or http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Search_Engines/index.html

Thanks for your reply! Now, will these scripts allow me to index *.mid files or just the HTML pages where the MIDI files are located?
Dunno... You'll have to look through them. You could create your own search (or have someone develope a search for you [like me]... *hint hint*) lol...

How about CGI or JavaScript? Are they good for making a search tool or is PHP the best one?
CGI would be fine, but javascript's not so good. 13% of web users browse with javascript disabled.

Ok. Do you know of any good CGI scripts?
Also, If I wanted to search the Internet or Google or something to find a PHP or CGI script for making this search, what kind of keywords should I look for? Should I type in "MIDI Indexing" or "Custom Indexing"? Because I want the search script to index MIDI files ONLY so when someone searches for a song, it won't bring up another page on my site.
No, I don't know of any good scripts for you to use... I don't know of any off the top of my head that allow you to only search .midi's (though they are probably out there...)
