Why does it say I have 0 posts when I have made 2 posts? with this being the third?

Ahhhh, IC. so posts start a zero becaus I noticed it said 0 posts on my first post in the coffee lounge.

So if I lurk and post only in the coffee lounge, I can be here for years and make 1,000's of posts and never show any increase in my post count! bit of a strange way of doing things.

If you dont want to count them why dont you have a seperate count showing the Coffee Lounges post count?

The count indicates that the member has a reasonable knowledge of web development.

Any post in the Coffee Lounge is general chit-chat. Why count that?

Because posts in the lounge are not considered particularly relevant on a technology forum. The lounge is present merely as a consideration for the users

Ok, I have told my friends that you wont let them play and they need to get their own email addresses if they want to use the forum board 'Properly'.
