Does anybody have any recomendations on a good CSS book. I'm looking for something that's a little more advanced than teaching how to make the typical 3 column layout.

Two books I have heard good things about were:

Stylin with CSS: A designer's guide by Charles Wyke-Smith
Bulletproof Web Design by Dan Cederholm

Any opinions on those are welcomed too.

Thanks...

lol i was just going to ask the same thing. Apparently css mastery is a good book, but I'm not sure. In the bookstores they mostly sell books for noobs that know nothing about css. I am looking for something serious, not some "how to learn css in 24 hours" garbage. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for as well, right?

Yep, they're good books. Depending on how you like to learn stuff you might like Cederholm's other book better.

I've gone through HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS and that was pretty good to start me off. I'm looking for something more advanced now.

Bulletproof Web Design is not just a CSS book. It outlines a philosophy of design that allows for the inevitable situation in which the end user might break many CSS designs, like resizing the font 2 sizes bigger. Not for the noob but makes an excellent addition to the serious designer's library.

Stylin' with CSS is a good intermediate level book. I especially like the font-size treatment. Very readable.

CSS: The Definitive Guide by Eric Meyer is just what the title suggests, an in-depth coverage of the field. If you want to understand CSS not just learn a few tricks. This is excellent.

CSS Mastery, by Budd, Collison and Moll, of course. If you've got a handle on the basics and want to be a real pro, get this book and study it.

Trancending CSS by Andy Clarke, is brilliant. If you want to get into the mind of one of the top practitioners and learn not just his tricks but how he thinks, this is the ticket.

The Art and Science of CSS by Jonathan Snook and friends, gives you not just how to, but some great looking and technically clever designs to learn from.

I'm sure that there are many more good books, but these have prime place on my bookshelf. All five star.

So I took advice from mactheweb and purchased CSS Mastery. I haven't even finished it yet (middle of the 2nd chapter), but between what I've read and what I saw when I flipped through pages later in the book I can say this is a good recommendation if you are looking for a good CSS book. I wouldn't recommend it if you are just starting with CSS though. You would probably want the basic knowledge of it before this book.

If you have any other books that worked for you let people know.
