Hey, right now I am taking a class in java but I would like to do some independent study (No books were ordered for java, since our class recently switched from c++ to java due to colledge board). I was wondering if any of you have some good book suggestions for java, or any authers to look for or avoid. Also if you have any totorials really good, make my toes wiggle, good tutorial sites, I would appreciate it. One sucky thing about my class is no GUI :( Its not on the ap exam so I am hopeing for a book to focuses on just the language its self and aps that run in a dos prompt. Maybe once I get good in java I can start working with GUI's in my spare time.
