Flash video with controls

I am a novice in flash. I have recieved some swf videos from a client and when I embed them into his site they have a set of controls on them.
I also got some videos as wma files and loaded them into flash 8 and added one of the controls from the list of different skins. When I publish it creates a flv file and a swf file and another for the controls. So when I go to embed this I have to embed all 3 files. How come the other videos had the controls built in to the swf all as one?

when the swf movie was being made, the user probably used some gotoandstops and gotoandplays to control the movie.

try decompiling the swf, to see the actionscript they used.
