Heard the 'Four Songs' bonus disc that came with Live's first album, Throwing Copper? It's unbelievable.
Here be two questions:
1) I have a page which goes LINKS :: FRAME FOR CONTENT
Pretty straightforward. You click a link, and the frame displays the relevant page. However, when the page first loads, the frame appears white until its source page has loaded (this page has an image for a background). This also appears to happen on subsequent visits to the page (although that may just be Geocities slowness and broken add-code).
Now, every page that displays in the frame has the same background image, and when you click the links, it appears that the pages in the frame change without the background changing (this is good).
So, what I'm wondering is; is it possible to arrange something so that when the page is first loaded, or revisited, the frame does not appear white, but rather instantly loads the background image? Maybe it would require the user to be redirected from another page (a 'loading' page or something. Hey! maybe they'll think it's Flash and go somewhere else!) I know I'm being something of a purist, and that it's probably impossible or unfeasible or will cause global warming or something, but...well, your help would be appreciated anyway ;)
2) As if that wasn't enough =P Can someone direct me to a good site that explains the workings of hosting and servers and uploading and suchlike? So far, my experience is limited to the 'easy upload' Geocities option, and the 'publish web' Frontpage option (EVIL!!)
I need to learn something (the more the better) about the workings of servers, how one uploads to them, about hosting and whatnot, and basically anything related to that side of things.
Cheers-
