How would I be able to create a search engine within an intranet? The pages are created through HTML (Dreamweaver) and uploaded via FTP. There are PDFs, spreadsheets, etc. within the intranet. I don't want to use Google or any other software.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You would have to have a database of all the pages.

if your content was dynamic it would be a lot easier to manage.

I am sure there are programs and systems you can use to build a search database of your intranet but how much they cost i don't know.

Perlfect (http://www.perlfect.com/freescripts/search/) is an excellent search engine and it will handle PDF's also. And it's free!

orcasearch is wonderful, it can also index your pdfs:

You will need PHP and mysql installed and a little knowledge of those.
