Here's how I really feel : :eek: :mad: :confused: :(

I've been trying soo hard to make at the very least, 1, successful template!
I did some, but they were a lil bit "strange" (or out of the standard)...

I just don't get it, what's wrong?!
Other websites are like fancy and great, and I know how to use CSS, HTML, XHTML, Photoshop nd ImageReady. I know that's not much, but I still don't understand the basics of a template, I guess :( .

Anyway, could u help me, give me some advice or at least tell me ANYTHING :eek: that would\could help!

thx,

A template is where you have the bare-bones of every document on your site. It might mean a header, a sidebar, a navigation bar and a place for content. Then to make a new page, you would simply copy and paste the code, and fill in the blanks.

I usually keep a few of these handy...<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Script-Type" content="text/javascript" />
<title></title>
<style type="text/css">
* {border:0; padding:0; margin:0;}/* Set everything to "zero" */

html, body {min-height:100%; height:101%; padding-bottom:25px;
font-size:100.1%;
font:x-small Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;
voice-family: "\"}\"";voice-family:inherit;
font-size:small;/*for IE 5.5 */}
html>body {font-size:small; height:auto;}/* Assist IE6 & <, 100% height */
font-size: small; voice-family: "\"}\"";
voice-family: inherit; font-size: medium} /* Assist IE rendering height, keyword-font sizes, etc. */

p {font-size:0; font-size:1.0em; line-height:1.0em; margin:16px 0 12px 0;}

h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {font-family: 'times new roman', arial, verdana, helvetica, serif; background-color:none;
font-style:normal; font-variant:normal; font-weight:normal; margin:14px 0 4px 10px;}
h1 {font-size: 1.5em;}
h2 {font-size: 1.4em;}
h3 {font-size: 1.3em;}
h4 {font-size: 1.2em;}
h5 {font-size: 1.1em;}
h6 {font-size: 1.0em;}
</style>

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
// -->
</script>
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" /><!-- path to your favicon -->
</head>
<body>

<div style="width:auto; height:100%; margin:0 auto;"><!-- WRAPPER -->

<div style="width:97%; height:100px; margin:10px auto 0 auto; border:3px double silver;">
<h1>Logo Header</h1></div>

<div style="position:absolute; left:0; width:130px; height:100%; padding:20px 15px; border-right:3px double silver;">
<h2>Left Navs, etc.</h2>
</div>

<div style="width:auto; height:auto; padding:20px 15px; margin-left:160px;">
<h3>Main Content</h3>

I'll have to say your heading font list is rather strange, Joel. It says, "Use this particular serif font unless you can't, in which case use one of these sans-serif fonts."

I think I posted a pre-used template that included some notes for another postee. I had stripped the non-required stuff... must have missed something..

Night Sky (http://www.4shared.com/file/22447387/237de9bc/Night_Sky.html)
Night Sky (ULTIMATE) (http://www.4shared.com/file/22447514/6f3b7ffd/Night_Sky__ULTIMATE_.html)
Relaxation (http://www.4shared.com/file/22447352/e6b9637e/Relaxation.html)

looooool!
You have to download them!
these ain't the files, that's just the download page!
Click on the "Download file", it appears after a few seconds in the table...
Anyway, plz tell me your opinion about the templates ;)

Oh, so in order to view them, I have to download them? -No thanks. This is too much work. And if this were an attachment to an e-mail, -other concerns.
Myself, if I were 'showcasing my works', I would want to have them all 'visible' on the same page (a 'snapshot image/thumbnail view') on the same page), and have "download this complete file" as an option not a requirement. You'll probably find many people share this sentiment.

Besides, I do not have the utility to extract a *rar file (previous experience tells me this). :o
