Anyone know a good company that will allow me to do site donations with credit cards. That will cost me based on a percent that I take in?

So you're saying you don't want to use PayPal?

well the stranger thing yet is that they are trying to skirt around the point of the percentage taken by the credit card processor.
BrutusUnix - Let me crush your idea right now... Sadly your not going to find such an outfit. it's possible to find someone who will not take a percentage, however they'll take it in the form of a monthly fee and flat fee based on number of charges per month.
Believe it or not PayPal is an incredibly "kind" credit card processor. when it comes to fee's. There is no application fee, no monthly fee, no extra fees for chargebacks and payment can be taken at once. Your not going to find a company that will allow you the options or flexibility PayPal offers.

Depending on the business plan, Sporg (http://www.sporg.com/) might be an option. If you are in the United States and more than $1,000 a month, you can probably get a merchant account for about $20 a month plus charges (discount rate / transaction rate) and that should help cover your expenses for a merchant account.
Otherwise, why not Paypal? Paypal trust you to use their merchant account. You trust your customers hopefully to use it as well.

All Merchants charge a fee based on percent you make.
The big difference is the extra monthly fees, initial deposit and setup costs.
Have you looked at Google Checkout?
https://checkout.google.com/
It works similar to Paypal
