I will say this before anything. I am a relative n00b when it comes to this subject.

With that said, I would like to ask a question concerning a special type of message boards.

I have been seeing lately on web sites with a feature where you can respond to an article (or something else) on the bottom of the page. I am looking to add that feature to a future site i am developing but would like to know as much as i can about it. my question is: What is the main difference between this and a traditional message board (BBS)? Also, if someone could simply point me in the direction of some information so I can carry on from there, I would greatly appreciate it.

To those of you who read this, thank you. To those who actually are thinking of ways to help, I would hug you if i could.

I would just like to clarify something.

I am sure people who looked at this just rolled thier eyes and thought i was some dips*** who doesn't know a damn thing.

Well, to clarify, i am no dips***, and any advice i recieve i will understand. I just simply have only 1 1/2 years of programming experiance under my belt, and PERL is not my thing right now. I have just been practicing theory and little things and now i feel i am ready to tackle some as tough as this, while it will still be enjoyable.

<gets off soapbox>
Thank you...

What is the main difference between this and a traditional message board (BBS)?Well... it could be viewed as a kind of guestbook on each article page. Or in terms of a forum I suppose you could view each article as a topic, each with its own list of replies. I think that's the best I can answer this. It was a vague question and received a vague answer. :(
