Mmm, poultry...
I'm looking for a different way to achieve the LINKS :: FRAME FOR CONTENT effect, because I can't get all the way around the frame loading time problem (that is, while the frame loads a new page, even if that page is pre-cached, there is some time when the frame appears as a white square, or a black square, or something else unpleasant). I'm probably taking this too far, and no doubt I'll have Charles on my case for designing a page too visually *grin*.
Anyway, what I'm wondering is (funnily enough) how else can I do this? For instance, is it possible to have an hyperlink write some fairly complex HTML into a transparent div? Subsequent hyperlinks would need to overwrite this HTML with other HTML. Maybe a little Javascript too, although I can probably get around this...
Impossible? Heh, probably.
So is there some other way? The thing I need is just for my content to appear over top of the background image, without that image ever changing or dissapearing (however briefly).
If (and this is highly likely) none of the above makes any sense, you can see what I'm on about here (http://www.geocities.com/ne_peut_pas) .
I know there are things about it that are messed up now, and this is by no means a finished thing. Hell, it's barely a thing at all, right now. And I know geocities is all bad, but their add code is broken at the moment =)
*edit*
oh yeah, and I know that 13% of people won't be able to view the site because the redirect on the loading page is JavaScript, but I'm working on that.

*woo! Third edit in 5 minutes!*
To see the problem that's really bugging me, you'll need to go to one of the 'images' pages, and view and image (any image). Then go to a different 'images' page.) Probably this isn't even noticeable on broadband, but I'm working for gomers like myself still stuck on dialup (hell, I'm making a mod for HL1 too, for us same gomers who can't even afford a computer that can handle HL2)
Power to the gomers!
*grin*

Erm...right. Good show old beans, wot?! Tally ho I say!
...pip pip...
