For marketing and promotion, visit the E-Commerce sections.

I dont see an area in the E-Commerce section for promoting or marketing a website. Are we not allowed to announce new web sites ie promote a new directory?

That would be considered advertising and that is against the Acceptable Use Policy (http://www.jupitermedia.com/corporate/privacy/aup.html) of this forum. The only type of links one may post on this forum is to their own personal web development site and those must go in your signature. Posts with the purpose of only advertising a site is not allowed.

On another note, I think the links you currently have in your signature may not be appropriate. I'll forward this to one of the admins and they can make a decision on that.

This information is located where? As nothing relevant is in the FAQS, the search , in the signature area or in the Acceptable Use Policy that you listed which is on another website

From the acceptable use policy

You will not post advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations, all of which are inappropriate and prohibited in the Forums. You will not, furthermore, collect personal information about forum members for the purpose of sending them any such advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations through other means (email, messaging programs, etc.).

So a free web directory and a free PLR site fall into this category. Whatever not one of the sites collects personal information. Both of which were in my signature and now without even reviewing just removed,

Any type of advertising would be prohibited by the AUP. I have decided to allow users to have their own Web design/development site links in their signatures, on my own, as well as suitable entirely noncommercial sites. It's not an official company policy, but one I instituted.
