Making Money Off Gaming Servers?

Does anyone have any idea on how a person can make money from his own gaming server for games like Battlefield 2, Half Life 2 Deathmatch, etc?

You could charge a membership fee. For the whole server or perhaps for just certain parts of the server. Like maybe have an "elite" room where you have to be a paid member to enter. But of course I'm not going to discuss prices here since that is against the Terms Of Use of this forum. Just some ideas... Hope that helps. :)

what do you think the "elite" room should offer?

I'm not entirely sure... Maybe more maps/weapons and/or custom maps/custom weapons. Or maybe just more options then what you would normally have. I think it would really depend on if the server allowed restrictions like that. Or if you're a good programmer. Sorry, I don't really have a lot of experience in this area. Just trying to give some ideas.
