hi everyone,

i just want to know what you guys think about the script font towards the top of my page (the Kitchen & Bath, Outdoor, Indoor, OEM, Manufacturing links)

http://www.foremostgroups.com/dev/2007corporate/corporate_information.html

one person i'm developing this for doesn't like it, but i do (i think it give the site character and makes it more 'elegant' looking). If I tell him it's better to keep it, he'll be okay with that, but I thought I'd get other opinions first.

if it's not this script, i'd like to make these text links, but it's gotta stand out, and I don't know any good standard fonts for headings like this.

a few people want <a href="http://wtf2.myfonts.com/uploads/images/0c/0c5bed2f29a2d996acbffe927764827b.35737.jpeg">this</a> font, but i'm not crazy about it.

any opinions?

general opinions of the site are also appreciated.

thanks!

You mean the font on the main nav at the top? Waaaay too fussy and hard to read. The second choice listed farther down is no better.

If you feel you MUST use a graphical, fancy font, why not the one used in the client's logo?

My personal preference is for plain text navigation styled with CSS. That means sticking to the collection of web based fonts. Leave the fancy script fonts for the logo.

You've done alot of work on this. I need not say more. Jjust wanted to add, avoid WEFT ("Web Embedded Font-Tools"). In the last few years, the mantra "less is more" has never meant as much today as it does to web development. Myself, waiting for a site to resolve or inability to read the text, -I bail and look elsewhere. Simplicity impresses me. :)

thanks guys, I appreciate the input...

so, i've taken your advice and switched all links to plain text.... but I'm not sure i like how it looks yet...

For the top (Kitchen & Bath, Home, OEM, and Manufacturing) and bottom (Corporate Info, Global Sourcing,...) links, I'm using font-family:Veranda, Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif;. But the anti-aliasing seems choppy in FF and IE6.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions to make it look better?

And - WebJoel, I cleaned up my CSS and it's almost half the size it was (from 7kb to 4kb)! Thanks for the help with that.

I think it looks good, even in FF on the PC. Much easier to read!

Thanks a lot Winday. If it's easier to read (and more SEO friendly), I'm okay with it.

Thanks again.
