Does anyone know of any dirt cheap, half decent web-hosts with a built in ftp (like geocities) that support ASP and offer domain names in the form:
http://www.my_name_of_choice.co.uk/
with no adverts and no added code.

Thanks but the one key feature that it must have is a built in ftp, there are two simple reasons for this:
* I will not just be accessing it from the same computer every time, sometimes I will be at school and/or at internet cafés.
* I downloaded an ftp program once and I just did not understand it. I couldn't figure out how it worked then so the chances are I won't be able to now.

Well I don't have a web-site to try this with, but even if I did I wouldn't be able to see much since I can't upload anything.
While I was searching I did find this web-site:
www.unitedhosting.co.uk
They seem to have pretty excellent hosting but I think you have to download an ftp program like you have to for many other hosts. I guess I'd better learn how to use one after all.

OK, this is what I want in a host, to be able to go to their homepage and sign in or whatever and just select files on my computer and then press upload.
And you're telling me I can do that just by typing this:
ftp://host.com/u
in the address bar?
On my site, which supports FTP access, I can type ftp://ftp.infinitypages.com in and it will load up my site in a format that looks like I opened it with My Computer. I can simply copy and paste my pages in. That being said, I personally use WS_FTP Pro to FTP into my sites...

There must be some sort of login procedure though otherwise anyone could modify the contents of your site.
So when hosts are advertising and they say full ftp access, that's what they mean?
1: Yes, a popup similar to a .htaccess login.
2: That you can log in via FTP. Take a look at http://download.com.com/3000-20-1572132.html?legacy=cnet

Well I've downloaded it and I'm sure that I'll have fun trying to get it to work/understanding how it works.
