Is it normal if I don't need a password and a username to connect to my database? Is it just as secure? My host company setup a database for me, but the connection doesn't require a username or password. It seems like if I want people connecting to the database to store their information (ie. user info, preferences, etc.) it would be more secure if the connection required this extra security measure. Of course, I'll require a username and password from the user that will be stored in the database. Please let me know though if my Host is ripping me off.

Also, is this sort of connection normal? I only have one other site that is database driven and it required the username and password to connect.

My client uses the Microsoft bCentral Hosting Service - I would recommend it... but it's what I'm currently stuck with.

So is it good or bad?

no guru here but i'd say that its not a good thing that everyone can access your pages, ultimately you will get hacked and your information raided and your pages deleted/edited with spyware
