I want to send an email to a few friends and actually have my flyer (a jpg file) in the email. I do not want to copy/paste or use the attachment features in the email. I use Yahoo if that matters. How can I embed the picture in the email?

Although you can try, there's no guarantee that the image will appear in the email. Several email programs block the appearance of images for security reasons. The user will have to either right click to make it appear; or the email program will turn it into an attachment which the user will have to open.

Best thing to do is to store the image on a web server, then provide a link to it.

If you upload all your images to a server or free photo hosting site then copy and paste the images in the email using the path where the images are hosted it will show up in emails that have HTML email enabled. I would also suggest above the image your emailing placing a link for people who do not have it enabled.
Type something like:
"If you are unable to see the image below click here"

Not necessarily. MS Outlook will block them, even if HTML is enabled. You are required to right click to make them appear. ;)

To keep them from being considered spam or privacy problems the images have to be embedded in the message itself.

Yes, I sort of know what it looks like. No, I don't know how to do it.
