I found the following find-in-page script on the internet (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex11/findpage.htm). I'm using it in IE 5.5, and it works pretty well. The only problems are that in IE when it scrolls to a found term, it goes to the top of the page and then jumps back down, so it looks sort of awkward. The problem seems to be in the EXPLORER-SPECIFIC CODE, towards the bottom of the pasted script. Also, it doesn't let you search from the beginning of the page until you have searched through the entire page, so is a "go to top of page to search" button possible? Thanks.
