Hello, i'm trying to quote a potential client for a full magazine layout, 15-20 pages, including cover. After that, they plan on having a quartley with 40-60 pages. It's for the travel industry, and has many high end ad spaces for Prada, Gucci, Dior and others. I was thinking something like $150-$200 / page and $400 for each cover. So twenty pages like $4200, and 60 like $12200. I know this is alot cheaper than a professional design firm would charge for a magazine as such, but im curious, am i low balling myself? It seems cheap for such a magazine. I know that that there are freelancers who would do it for almost nothing, but don't have the experience they're looking for.

Thanks for any input.

that kind of pricing talk is not allowed here... so I will not allow for any additional talk of hard numbers in this topic!

If you go in with a quote like that be ready to NOT get the job! The thing you don't realize is the amount of trade that happens in the advertising business. I haven't seen any of your work but that much per page when your basically going to create a template for 3 types of page types then rotate the content on these templates.

To be a successful freelancer in my view you have to be concerned with building the relationship not racking them over all at once.

A couple months ago I looked at another designer in my area to pick up the slack on a client of mine... they gave me a price similar to yours and I didn't need to go back and discuss it with my client I didn't even consider the price they were offering. They didn't and won't get it. Everything has a price yes... but that price needs to be a reflection of what the client is comfortable to pay.

At your pricing it would be far cheaper to hire and salary someone to do the job....
