Chat client that informs you of typing...

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a chat client that informs you that whover yuou are chatting with is writing on the other side...

Additiononally, is this chat client skinnable ?

I'm sorry I'm not totally understanding your question... If how I reword it below is incorrect please let me know.

are you asking for a chat client that will alert you when someone is looking to chat with you?
Almost more like a private online chat room with just you and a site client. OR more of a general chat room where you can have multiple chatters.

Just about any client should be skinable... and one with the features your looking for should work.

To answer the first question, What I am looking for is a one on one chat client - counselor -counselee that may be extended by invitation only to a group chat room where various counselees may chat with the supervison (or none) of a councelor.

The typing notification is so that, the counsellee can see a message saying the counsellor is typing... this is mostly for usability.
