does anyone know how many maximum outgoing emails an SMTP server can handle?
trying to make stuff that sends emails to all our customers, reckon around 10,000 emails will be sent at one go, can the smtp server handle this??

It depends on what limits that your hosting provider imposes. Many hosting providers now limit the number of emails sent per hour to a fairly low number so as to prevent their service being used by spammers. The best solution would be to set up a cron job that runs at regular intervals through the day and sends out the emails a few at a time. Even with a hosting provider who limits you to 500 emails per hour you could still send to your entire list in under a day. Of course if your provider isn't limiting the send then you can probably send them all in a couple of minutes but then the anti-spam services will probably flag your host as sending spam.
