Good eventing all,

I know that htm is basically the same as html and htm was created back in the DOS era, I have noticed that FrontPage 2003 defaults all of its pages to htm. I have also noticed when I publish pages that when someone types in the URL that the extension has to be placed in the address bar for my pages to come up; is there a way that I could have my pages display without the htm extention (ie http://mywebsite.com/page1)?

It depends on the server setup. On Linux, any file name ending in index.html, which is inside a directory can always be address by folder name only. On Windows, it tends to work the same way. However, it you want services.htm to show up with /services/ then you'll need to look at re-directs or mod-rewrite for Linux.

As far as changing the extension inside FP, I would assume there's a way. I don't use FP, if you were using DW, I could tell you in about five minutes. Google for it would likely turn up the result.

As far as I know, no. I know I have seen this question asked a few times but with no answer (or a negative answer). You might check out Expression Web (http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/overview.aspx?key=web). It is much better and you can download a free 60-day trial

I just cruised through an old copy of FP, and see no way to change the default file suffix to ".html".
