Apache PHP prob

I installed Apache so I can use PHP, but it won't let me. I get this error: when I try and acces a PHP script I wrote and stored in htdocs folder:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, you@your.address and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I started Apache and all. I am totally new to this and it probably is a simple answer that I just don't know. Thanks

Have you installed PHP? Its not part of Apache.
