how can I set it with JS so that the background shown is a background downloaded to your computer? ALSO: if the background hasnt been loaded yet, that the background should be "blue".

The reason I ask this is because the background I have for my site is VERY nice but its also big so it sucks up a lot of bandwidth

P.S can this be done in plain HTML? or should it be in JS?

Warning lables... very funny. I will have pass this one on.

<body bgcolor="#0000FF"> This will give you a blue background until the background image downloads.

Background images can be a real problem for those users on dialup. I read your other post about downloading zipped images. The problem there is that the user must unzip them into a specific folder. It's not very user friendly. Most of the time I see this kind of thing handled nicely with Flash or Shockwave. Show me what you are doing.

I'm afraid I can't "show you" what I'm doing atm... but thanks anyways. (I alrdy knew how to set bg to blue but didnt know if it needed more code to make it show image and if image isn't installed then to show blue)

Anyone know how to do this? I'v seen <img border=0 src=file:///c:/rwk/ButVs.jpg>done on racewarkingdoms(link in my signature to RWK and to the file it was used in<JavaScript Masterpiece>) but I don't know how to set it with the blue background should the file not exist(not downloaded)
