HELP: Script needed

Does anyone have or know of a script for adding a username and password to different folders on a website, essentialy adding security. I am new to this and seek help. I am trying to create a portal for my clients to view there projects and would like to assign a different username and password to each client's folder on my site.

Best thing to use would be htaccess if your server supports it. Does it?

I am currently on a Windows server, I would have to switch over to a Linux server in order to use .htaccess. I'm not very familiar with .htaccess can it protect a folder and it's contents in my directory rather than individual files? I would like to assign a different username and password to different folders in my client bin.

Yes, .htaccess would be capable of that, but as you know, it only works on *nix servers. Try searching these forums, or looking around http://php.resourceindex.com and http://www.hotscripts.com
