After 10 minutes i switch on the monitor, it starts blinking and the frequency increases so much that i've to switch it off without looking at the screen. could anyone tell me what'd be the problem?

Don't know but your not the only one.

Mine seems to do it in an increasing number of times but stops if I play a video.

I noticed this happening after a Microsoft update, the PC has crashed on a few occasions and blamed systems other than the root cause, M$ *ucked up yet they blame the Modem that I do not use, the Soundcard AND video drivers which have been updated, some issue with the firewall or other software I have running yet fail to recognise that the issue never existed prior to the ****up of an update from microsoft.

many thanks for replying! i formatted the pc and the problem started since. but now the formatting doesnt help! for me it blinks for everything including video & games. Earlier it had a problem of restarting in the middle of something but wont restart if i'm watching movies/ playing games only when i work it make a point to restart, that problem is solved now.

Unlike mine, because I have checked it, try removing and reinserting the video card to see if that cures it.

It could be that you (just like me) have a sensitivity to low refresh rates on non-LCD monitors. I would imagine that it is set to 60 right now.
Try something closer to 70 or 75. Do know that this isn't really good for the monitor itself. In fact, can you use a different monitor to see if it is the problem rather than the graphics card?

Or maybe I misunderstood your problem. In any case, I do hope this helps.

Cheers.

I notice this sometimes when I use CRT monitors. Whenever I use an LCD screen (like the HP Brightview on my laptop) I'm fine. Sometimes I experience what you all are when I use CRTs.

If your monitor is CRT, it could also be a power supply issue. Maybe there's a nearby thing erratically using electricity, such as a washing machine when it's in agitation. When our washing machine does that I can notice the flickering in the lights with its agitation pattern. I don't remember it (or any other cause of an erratic power supply) affecting our old computer and its CRT monitor, though, but it may be affecting yours.

Well I finally tracked down my fault and IM 100% sure of this as I tried my PCIe card in another machine that takes PCIe cards and the card is fine, I put a NEW PCIe card in and the issue was still present so I took it out and put a NEW PCI card in a spare PCI slot and no issue.

I am pretty sure that its the BUS for the PCIe is running a fault component as if it was the actual slot then the card wouldnt be recognised. So somewhere in the mobo is a faulty component on that PCIe bus.

Well, good luck finding it.... I have limited knowledge about how computers physically work.... Yeah, if I look inside a computer I can tell you what's what, like processor, RAM, hard drive.... But beyond that, getting into more detail on the motherboard, I can't tell you anything....
