I have had a bit of a look back over postings here and not found this one so hope I am not boring everyone with an old issue.

My computer has recently decided that it cannot download pdf files off websites or email attachments. I am using XP Home with current IE. When trying to download a file I quickly get a blank page with the message lower left 'Done' beside a yellow triangle & exclamation mark. This opens a Problem box with the information:

Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://www.... (the download file).

I am javascript ignorant but this looks like it could be a JS issue. Any advice would be most welcome! This is a recent issue and .pdf files have not previously been an issue.

Goto: start > Control Panel > Folder Options
Click on File Types
Scroll down to extension .PDF
This should be Opens with Adobe Reader, if not change it.

Fang - thanks for your reply and apologies for not responding sooner. Had in fact checked the folder options and was OK but have now fixed the problem. I have just changed ISP and had been setting up new web email options. I had a field labelled 'Open in separate window:' and had put in '.pdf, .jpg, .doc' . Start of PDF problem (but no trouble with .docs or .jpg's). Now removed that field entry and problem fixed. So found the reason but no idea why that effect occured. Thanks anyway.
