Can anyone help, I posted a message last weeke but couldnt seem to get to the bottom of my problem!
I know how to do rollovers etc and change the images, but i am designing a web site, that is going to have an image placed on the right hand side of the window, like a thumbnail. When you rollover it, i want to make the image the whole size of the page, leaving the tables and info untouched underneath, but the image literally takes over the screen. I have seen this done on banner advertising on MSN, where a sall banner is at the top and when you rollover it, it drops down and takes over the page.

can anyone help????

Cheers

PS Khalid, thanks for your help, but that is not the sort of rollover idea i was on about, sorry!

Thats ok...However I am kind a surprised, if you have the understanding of rollover then what else you need.because your question is a very basic and simpl a rollover...

Yeah the process of a rollover is an easy one. But what i am trying to do isnt!
Say i have an image which is 40 x 40 in size and i put that in a table or cell on the right hand side of my page. When i rollover it and change the image, i want the image to be 400 x 400. But when i have tried this, the cell will only allow 40 x 40 of the image to be seen instead of, as it seems to stick to the size of the cell!
Have you seen the example i am on about on msn, it doesnt happen with every banner ad on there but some of them.

Cheers for your quick response

You're problem might be that you are using TABLEs for layout. And you're not supposed to be doing that.

Well in that case then how do i do a layout without the tables and cells, as in some of the cells i have background images, and in some i dont!

Since 1997 we've been instructed to use CSS for layout.

See http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/ and http://www.glish.com/css/.

cheers for that, i do you CSS for initial styles etc but not for designing whole sites. SO are you saying that i wil not be able to have the image rollover i want without resorting to CSS for the page, surley it can be done another way??

Hi Khalid
i havent done the images as yet as i didnt know if it was possible for me to do it easily or not!

And would you believe it the only day i have been onto the msn.co.uk home page and they havent got the banner ad that i had the original idea from!
Ahhhhh what do i do now then? Usually when i go onto msn after being redirected nicly by the chaps at microsoft from hotmail, they will have a banner ad approx 100 x 400 at the top for something like and EGG credit card or something, when you rollover it, it takes up the whole page, seemlessly and leaving the info underneth untouched?
Can you with you pearls of wisdom sort this for me? use any two images you want and then i will change the code later!?

cheers:D

Here take a look and see if its close to what you saw...even if its not exactly what you saw, there should not be much left to make it like that..njoy.
