I'm sure other people have seen this but I can't find any responses on how to fix it. I occassionally browse to sites where the text overflows its container (and I think it's always a serif font). Now it's happening to my design.

In FF when I've set a box to

#manifesto {
clear: both;
float: right;
width: 290px;
margin: 5px 0;
padding: 5px;
font: 10px Georgia, "Hoeffler Text", Times, serif;
}

My text overflows the box. It's fine if I enlarge or decrease font size. Padding, margins, float have nothing to do with it....

Anyone know the fix? I'd hate to lose my Georgia.

We would need to see the fuill code, or a link to the site online. There could be many reasons for this.

You can see it happening in the upper right hand green box, starting with "Welcome to Ogilvy Durham"

I don't see it in Fx on Windows.

As far as I can tell, it's just in mac FF...that's the only browser that I've ever seen that bug in.

Looks ok to ma as weel with Fx on Windows, but messed up considerably on IE6 - may have something to do with the validation errors (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ogilvydurham.com%2Foffline%2Fblog.php&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0).

I don't see this in IE6 or Fx either, but there are some coding issues: failure to properly close "<img> tags with the proper " />".

I tend to not worry about why something doesn't work when I see failed validation. Usually, that is the problem. :)

Sorry, it's a working file so I've been coding on the page all day. It's definitely not a validation problem though (it's happening on my clean pages as well). I know IE6 is off--I haven't approached my css from IE yet.

Does anyone on a mac have FF that is familiar with this problem?

It's definitely not a validation problem though (it's happening on my clean pages as well).

It might have been better, then, to have given us a link to one of the pages which does validate and that exhibits this problem ....

it's harder to see on most of them. And the page validated at time of posting, again I'm sorry.
