Hey,

I'm trying to create an effort where I have a photograph and a seperate white object placed over the photograph. The idea is to have the white object a little transparent so you can see briefly what's behind the white object and to have the white object blur what's behind it.

A good example of this efect is Windows Aero, featured on Windows Vista. The borders of the windows are a little transparent and blur what's behind them.

For example:

Look at the borders of the windows. This is exactly what I'm trying to recreate in fireworks. Any idea how?

Thanks,
Oli

Use Gaussian blue, and make that portion of the layer transparent using the properties.

That doesn't work :(. It only blurs the object. The aim here is to blur what's behind the object.

Remember, the photograph and the white object are two seperate objects on two seperate layers.

It sounds like you'll have to duplicate the object, one for the top and one to use as a mask for the layer below. When you move them you'll just have to select both.
